Hi - have you considered hosting the raw PDFs in https://drive.google.com/ (free 5GB of hosting)?
I did indeed try the Google virtual drive. I got as far as creating the drive on my computer, but I'm not sure how I could make the files available on my blog. Could I embed them in an HTML blogger widget, like I can with Scribd? Scribd is pretty easy to use and I'm not sure what advantage Google drives offer other than the much larger storage space. Scribd's is 500 megs, but for my purposes at the moment, that's plenty. (The second PDF installment is less than a meg.) I might make videos for this blog, but I'd use YouTube for that. I also tried Google Groups, but that left only a relatively convoluted way of accessing the file from my blog.
You can use the "Anyone with link" sharing option for directly linking to the PDF; see https://support.google.com/drive/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2494822&topic=2816927&rd=1The problem with Scribd is that visitors have to pay to download your otherwise free PDF copy (and downloading is a prerequisite for getting it inside a smartphone device).
Well, I didn't want to force anyone to pay for the e-books. I didn't know Scribd charges anything. They're not charging me to upload or to view the files on my computer, so I take it you're talking about viewing the e-books on a mobile device. I'll try out the Google Drive way.
