RWUG News

Hi, all! Hope you're having a pleasant holiday.

Thanks to all of you who bought my first novel, God Decays. I wanted to let you know that a reader has set up a forum to discuss the book, and that I've started writing the sequel.

Also, I'm planning to invade YouTube soon, to let everyone there know that they're trapped within an undead god. That should be fun.

On another note, my satirical news pieces are appearing also on websites that specialize in that sort of thing, such as GlossyNews and The Spoof. If you like satirical writing, you'll find a lot more of it on those sites. When I've written enough of those articles, I'll collect them in a special PDF.

Cheers!

  1. Hi Benjamin,

Your blog has been a great inspiration. I bought the book and ebook of God Decays, and have shared it with friends. I've just started blogging again and plan to release a short ebook soon. Take care.

  2. Also, I am re-reading RWUG Vol 1, is there any way for an exclusively English reader to get any exposure to the work and writing of Philipp Mainländer?

    1. Good to hear from you again, William. If you get a chance to read the novel, I hope you'll think of reviewing it on Amazon.

Let me know when your eBook is out. You know, I've put out four more eBook installments of this blog. For your convenience, I've added links to them here:

As for English editions of Mainlander's books, I wish I could give you better news, but as far as I know his two-volume work is still untranslated. Through googling, I've found some relevant scraps:

If you haven't already read it, I'd recommend Thomas Ligotti's The Conspiracy Against the Human Race. That book points to a number of other fascinating sources of sobering thoughts.

  3. Oh, on a side note I found this review of a review over at the looping world blog: http://loopingworld.com/2013/10/24/thomas-covenant-is-a-rapist/

I thought you might find it thematically interesting, in that in the story reviewed, the guy rejects a fantasy world (even more thematic, in his own world he essentially has/is a dead body) and despoils it. What's surprising is that the review of it also, essentially, bashes the fiction and despoils it, even as he sorta kinda says he thinks its good. The paralel is really quite interesting and the guy from the looping world blog caught onto the problematism of the review.

Thought it might be of interest!

    1. Thanks for the info. I'm not familiar with that author, but I like a good debate.
