On Medium: The Clash of Progressive and Evangelical Christianity
An article on why neither kind of Christianity is on safe ground, since progressive Christianity slides into secular humanism, and the evangelical kind is obtuse and self-refuting.
Maybe because in some bible's interpretation "god created the Earth to be taken by human beings" similar to "animals were made by god to serve us".. of course nothing close to Jesus, the original communist.
I would like to use my real name here. Do you think it's safe?
As I think I say in that article or in another recent one on evangelicalism, the Bible is complex or poetic enough to be taken out of context to support all manner of vice and villainy. That's what actually happened in the Catholic Church, in American slavery, in evangelical libertarian capitalism, and so on.
The only danger to using your real name here, I suppose, is that someone could connect that name to what you write. Assuming that name doesn't link to a website you want to protect, no one could spam you as a result of the opinions you express, unless you have another website under your real name.
Yes, i know. Bible is exceptionally contradictory.
I already write in portuguese with my real name.. for example, i wrote a text one year ago about eugenics but not in histerically traditional progressive way. I can't shut my voice to obey self entitled idiots of any kind of ideological corner. But i never defend real indefensable absurds.

I mean, evangelicals follow the old testment pre Jesus, isnt?
ReplyDeleteThey follow their skewed version of it, as filtered through their biased translations and the Septuagint.
