It's all a giant distraction from the extreme economic inequality. I doubt seriously that it's an accident since the entertainment industry is part of the economic elite.
The incident may have lent itself to that purpose, but that doesn't mean it was initially fake. I doubt the slap began as a conspiracy to distract the public.
There's confusion, though, about the current role of the Oscars Awards ceremony as a whole, since the event has been overtaken by woke politics. The emphasis should be on the art of filmmaking.
