On Medium: How Flying in Airplanes Makes Nonsense of Religion

Here's an article about the atheistic implications of flying in planes, and about how religion’s commonness nevertheless casts doubt on our hubristic secular self-images.

  1. '',Animals don’t regard themselves as subordinate, in that they have no sense of anything superior such as personhood. True, they distinguish between ranks of their kind, but they don’t think of animality, as such, as being inferior to something else''.

But all non-human species feel superior in the sense of ''at the center of the reality they perceive and live'', ''the most important'', ''gods of their own worlds'', which I call ''self-centrism'', and human religion appears to have been wholly derived from this primitive and universal trait.
