RWUG on YouTube!

Here’s my first YouTube video, also embedded below, in which I explain why we’re all in the undead god. Sorry about the lighting and volume level. They’re not too bad but they’ll be improved for the next video, which will be about two kinds of atheism.

The first several seconds after the titles of this first video show me seemingly at a loss for words. I was thinking of how to start the video off. The silence went on for around a minute and I cut most of it out but decided to leave some of it in because of how amusing it looks. It looks like I’m choking, to use the rapper’s lingo.

  1. A bit of a rough start, but I think you did pretty well for a first vid. You did a good job explaining the "undead god." Although I don't agree with you on antinatalism, it's still comforting to know there are people out there who view nature/existence the same way I do. This way of thinking can make one feel like an alien at times.

    1. BTW, I would pay to see you debate Inmendham.

    2. Thanks! We're all aliens, from the cosmicist perspective, since the rest of the world is indifferent to our values. But some of us are doubly alien, because we don't fit into certain artificial worlds (e.g. popular cultures) we set up to replace the terrifying wilderness. These double aliens, or outsiders, either fake it to fit in to various cultures or establish a culture for outsiders.

I've seen only a few of Inmendham's videos. We agree on the naturalism, I think, but he seems to blame human nature more than what I call the undead god. Or maybe he's a monist so he sees no interesting difference between us and the rest of the world. So for him the best existential rebellion would be the termination of our species.

He seems to lose his temper sometimes.

    3. He has gotten much better at controlling his temper, after repeated complaints from others. IMO, this is the best video of his. He is interviewed by two atheists who both have somewhat romantic views, despite their atheism. Other than AN, I would say you both agree on most things.

    4. That is an interesting video and I see what you mean about the "romantic" challenges. I think he has a problem with the naturalistic fallacy. At any rate, I'll write an article and make a video responding to his take on naturalism.

  2. Great stuff, would love to see a video on the doctrine of Enlightenment. I am presently trying to find and read through your old posts on the topic.

    1. Thanks, William. Off the top of my head, here are my articles that focus on enlightenment:

      http://rantswithintheundeadgod.blogspot.ca/2013/11/decadence-enlightenment-and-great-story.html

But most of my writings touch on that issue since it's so central. For example, the esoteric-exoteric distinction implies that there's such a thing as enlightenment, or as a cognitive elite. Can you be more specific about your interest?

  3. Ah, Benjamin. I envisioned you as a pipe-smoking eminence grise. You're YOUNGER THAN ME! DAMMIT! LOL.

    Kudos for the video!

    1. Thanks! I suppose this is related to the problem of making novels into movies: it spoils people's imagination. But in this case there's an actual person behind this blog, as opposed to just a made-up character in a novel, so I figured I'd have to reveal myself at some point.
